What is mediation?

Mediation is a non-argumentative or non-conflict, voluntary, confidential process to resolve problems resulting in disputes between people.

It focuses on providing safe, cooperative and respectful settings for clients to be heard.

Mediators help clients to communicate, negotiate and mutually solve problems.

The mediation process

First, a one-on-one meeting with each individual, assessing if mediation is appropriate, how it will be run and explaining the process in detail.

Second, parties meet in facilitated sessions with the mediator.

Third, documents and agreements are drawn up by the mediator.

The length of sessions and costs involved will vary according to circumstances.
