Relationship and Sexuality Counsellor | Clinical Psychosexual Therapist | Clinical Sexologist
Helena is the Senior Consultant and Counsellor at inSync for Life in the area of relationships, sexuality and intimacy.
She specialises in supporting couples and individuals to overcome sexual and relationship difficulties, and enhance and maintain sexual quality of life and intimacy across all life stages. She is a Clinical Sexologist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Sexology from Curtin University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Notre Dame University. She is a member of the Australian Counselling Association, and the Society of Sexologists. She is an Accredited Clinical Psychosexual Therapist and a Clinical Supervisor Accredited by the Australian Counselling Association |
As well as providing Clinical Sexology services, Helena has completed Level 3 of Gottman Relationship Counselling. The goal of this relationship counselling is to improve the client’s relationship by teaching couples how to avoid the behaviours that can damage relationships.
Helena will meet with individuals, and those who are experiencing relationship difficulties,and or issues related to changes in their sexuality, sexual functioning and intimacy.

Helena creates a safe and inclusive environment for clients. She respectfully acknowledges the diversity of bodies, gender expression and diversity of relationships. She also enjoys working with and supporting those who would like to examine the possibility of opening up their relationship.
With an established career as a Specialist cancer, and breast cancer nurse, Helena also has a special interest in sexual wellness and improving the sexual quality of life and intimacy for those who have undergone treatment for cancer.
She also has a particular interest and expertise in supporting individuals to manage pelvic pain related to sexual intimacy, with issues including pain on sexual intercourse, vaginismus and vulvodynia. She has worked extensively with those experiencing cancer-related sexual quality of life, and menopause-related sexual issues. She works collaboratively with medical practitioners, specialists and other health care professionals in this area to assist her clients.

Helena also has extensive experience counselling young people with different intellectual abilities with their relationship and sexual-related issues. She worked for many years providing specialist counselling and education with a non-profit organisation in Perth, in the area of human relationships and sexuality to people who have a disability, their family and significant carers.
While working in private practice at inSync for life, Helena has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist / Sexologist at a major Perth hospital, and was for many years, a Consultant Sexologist / Relationship Counsellor at the GP Practice, ellenhealth in Fremantle, and currently remains a Sexologist Consultant at the Gynaecological/ Oncology practice, Womencentre in Leederville.
Helena regularly provides presentations for clients of not-for-profit organisations such as the Cancer Council of Western Australia, and workshops for professional staff of these organisations and public and private hospitals.
