Workshop: Managing the Emotional Storm

New Workshop...
Managing
the
Emotional Storm

a Dialectical Behaviour Program

a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills-based program
to assist clients to
tolerate intense emotions
and
manage self-destructive behaviour

How can the Managing the Emotional Storm program assist you?

DBT is an evidenced based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder sufferers. However, DBT skills are also extremely useful for clients in assisting in the management of impulsive behaviours, mood changes, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression and urges to use substances, food, gambling etc. to avoid or get rid of uncomfortable or intense emotions. DBT gives clients concrete skills and strategies to manage disruptive emotional experiences.

See our Previous News page for further information on DBT
or see the Workshop page for the program brochure.

DBT has been found to be most effective when working in a group setting, in conjunction with individual counselling sessions and telephone contact.   We are currently organising to commence a group early in the new year with the lead facilitator being Ciara Togher and Co-Facilitator, Phil Cutting.

If you would like to be part of this exciting development in Bunbury, or if you would like to have a telephone chat with Ciara, please use the contact form.

You may also be eligible for a Medicare Rebate if you have a Mental Health Care Plan...discuss this with your Doctor, or see here for further information

NOTE: This workshop has already commenced :  Congratulations to Ciara and Phil for a great start and the hard work you have put into this program!

How can Gottman therapy assist you with relationship difficulties

Gottman Couples Therapy The Gottman Method was developed in the 1980s by Drs John and  Julie Gottman. It is based upon extensive clinical evidence.

The Gottmans developed this form of couples therapy  to assist  achieving a deeper sense of understanding, awareness, empathy, and connection in the relationship.

They found that this ultimately results in increased intimacy and growth of each individual. The counsellor provides therapeutic intervention using couples exercises, to help identify and address the personal defences that get in the way of effective communication and bonding.
